Impact announced today that their Impact in 60 program will be joining their regular show on Tuesday Nights. It is an expansion of Impact programming on AXS TV.
In recent weeks there have been rumors that AXS TV was pleased by the numbers of the TNA on AXS TV special at the end of April. Impact personnel have been encouraged to utilize the TNA brand more, which has led to the return of the TNA World Heavyweight Title in today's product. There were rumors that we would get additional TNA programming, but the pandemic has stalled those plans for now.
For those unaware, Impact in 60 is a best of collection that focuses on different themes every week. The series has been airing on the Fight Network and has been available on Impact Plus. Currently there are around 75 episodes focusing on different wrestlers, match types, rivalries, factions etc.
Impact in 60 is cheap programming that has already been developed. For fans who get AXS TV but don't subscribe to Impact Plus, it could be a great introduction to the TNA archives. The programming is a great way to find the best of TNA's history and put it together in a 60-minute package for fans.
Impact in 60 is not at the top of my list of additional programming that I would have liked to see on AXS. With that said, it is a cost-effective tool to enhance the product. While the current Impact in 60 episodes feature content from the TNA vault, there is nothing saying that Impact couldn't create more episodes focused on current roster members or teams.
Imagine an Impact in 60 episode focused on a Michael Elgin collecting matches against Rich Swann, Brian Cage or Marafuji. It is a quick way to introduce you to the character and wrestler that is the Unbreakable one. It is also much cheaper to create new episodes of Impact in 60 than some of the other programming I have mentioned in previous columns.
Overall, it does show AXS TV's support and commitment to the brand. It is a great sign of support that AXS wants to increase Impact programming. It is also a great way to make Tuesdays all about "Tuesday Night Action."
